Staff and students at the Central Kentucky Riding for Hope and the Stables School spent the day learning the basics of fishing, conservation, fish biology and life skills at the beautiful surroundings of the legendary Kentucky Horse Park.
With several ponds within walking distance of the school the school provides the perfect setting to incorporate a fishing program with its students.
“This whole process started with a group of college students from Eastern Kentucky University’s Bass Fishing Team wanting to give back and help the students in this school,” stated Mark Gintert the F3 Executive Director. “They connected Dean of Students Brian McIntyre with me and from there we started to build a program to get the Stables students involved in fishing. What a terrific example of a group of students wanting to give back to the sport they love,” added Gintert.
“We had a great time and I think the students really enjoyed the introduction to the fishing program,” commented McIntyre. “Our students are really looking forward to getting out to the ponds and putting so their new found fishing skills to work.”
The training was made possible by private donations to the Future Fisherman Foundation from generous donors who share the dream of “Ensuring the Future of Fishing”. If you are interested in being a part of that program please contact us HERE for more details.
