Future Fisherman Foundation and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries announce “Train the Trainers” Seminar

November 29, 2011 – The next stop in F3’s commitment to train the trainers of aquatic education programs is Harrowgate Elementary School in Chester, Va., 15501 Harrowgate Rd. Chester, Va. 23831.  The seminar begins at 9am, February 18-19.  It’s open to any organization.  Interested applicants can go to the F3 web site, www.futurefisherman.org, to register.

There’s a $20 registration fee, which is refunded to those who complete the two day program as a training/travel stipend.  Also, applicants who complete a post event survey will receive a tackle package for their students. Continue reading

Inaugural F3 On-line Auction a Huge Success!

The Future Fisherman Foundation completed its first on-line fundraising auction to support youth aquatic education and training programs across the United States with great success!

Sixty-eight items including music memorabilia, artwork and guided fishing trips went up for bid on Thursday, November 17.  When the auction wrapped up on the following Tuesday, almost all of the items were claimed by generous bidders from across the country.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the results of this program,” F3 Executive Director, Mark Gintert, stated.  “I don’t have an exact total yet, but it appears we have raised several thousands to help support our educator training programs and programs like Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs. Foundation student is chosen to fish the Crappie Masters Youth Scholarship Event

Millbrook, AL

Bass Pro Shops, Crappie Masters Tournament Trail held its second annual National Youth Scholarship at the Alabama River. Dallas Godshall of Prattville, Alabama represented the Future Fisherman Foundation in the 13-15 age groups.  Godshall was just one of the youth anglers fishing for prizes including a $4,000 scholarship. Crappie Masters offers free youth fishing events for local children at each of their tournaments, culminating with the National Youth Championship.

The Future Fisherman Foundation chose to select a student from one of their angling education programs to enter the tournament.  Doug Darr, the Aquatic Education Coordinator for the AL Dept. of Wildlife and Freshwater lead Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs and WFF Partnership program in the Montgomery area.  Graduate, Godshall passed the course with excellence and Dallas won the groups fishing contest. F3 Ocala Training Seminar Recap

Camp Ocala, a scenic 4-H camp nestled in the Ocala National Forest, provided the setting for the third stage of F3’s “Train the Trainers” seminar in Florida.

Representatives from several Florida Schools, Boy Scouts and Park & Recreation Centers along with groups from North Carolina and New Jersey participated in this event which was made possible by a training grant through the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation.

Steve Marshall and Jennifer Saranzak from the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) provided the class with two days of hands on Aquatic Education and HOFNOD training that included a variety of hands on activities designed to get students involved and excited about the sport of fishing and the great outdoors.
